BIC delegation visits the Shanxi Research Institute for Clean Energy, Tsinghua University

On June 9, 2025, BIC power operations team led by Mr. Prakay Yoknamngoen, Head of Power Operations, visited the Shanxi Research Institute for Clean Energy, Tsinghua University, the two sides successfully held a Clean Energy Tech Alignment meeting at the Department of Energy and Power Engineering of Tsinghua University.

Mr. Zhuo Yuqun, Executive Vice President of the Shanxi Research Institute for Clean Energy, Tsinghua University, warmly welcomed the BIC team and provided an overview of the institute's technological research and external collaboration initiatives. In response, Mr. Prakay introduced Banpu Group's global and Chinese business development, corporate strategy, as well as its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) responsibilities.

Following this, Professors Zhu Baoshan, Shen Bingshun, Shi Yixiang, and Zhang Jiansheng from Shanxi Research Institute for Clean Energy, Tsinghua University, presented key technologies in clean energy including “Pumped Storage Technology for Abandoned Coal Mine," "Zero-Carbon Coal-Fired Power Plant," "Low-Energy Consumption and High-Efficiency Hydrogen Production Technology " and "Coal-to-Gas Conversion." Both sides engaged in an in-depth and pragmatic discussion on the future development prospects of these technologies and their potential application in Banpu. They expressed a shared intention to leverage technological innovation as a bridge, guided by the global demand for low-carbon energy transition, to deepen industry-university-research collaborative mechanisms and jointly explore new pathways for international energy technology cooperation. 

During the visit, BIC team also toured the technology exhibition halls of the Departments of Energy and Power Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering at Tsinghua University. Paul Liu, Head of CHP Operations, Chen Junzhi, Director of CHP Operations, Ma Xinguang, Director of Technical & Engineering, Chen Chuan and Ricky Wang, Directors of Technical, attended the event.
