Power Business

BIC entered into the power business in the People's Republic of China in early 2006 and currently owns and operates three combined heat and power (CHP) plants in northern China, namely Zhengding Plant (73 MW) in Zhengding County, Hebei Province, Luannan Plant (150 MW) in Luannan County, Hebei Province and Zouping Plant (125 MW) in Zouping City, Shandong Province.

With a total combined power generating capacity of 348 MW, the three CHP plants generated electricity of 1.459 billion kWh; sold electricity of 1.179 billion kWh and supplied steam capacity of 17.8 million gigajoules in 2021. In addition to supplying steam to the industrial and commercial enterprises, BIC's three CHP plants also take the responsibility of providing district heating service to local residents during winter. The electric power generated by the plants are supplied to the local grid companies.

In addition, Shanxi Lu Guang Power Co., Ltd. (SLG) located in Zhangzi County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province is another significant project , in which Banpu holds a 30% stake, while Anhui Province Wenergy Co, Ltd. and Gemeng International Energy Co., Ltd. each holds a 35% stake.

The project, with an installed capacity of 1,320 MW (2x660 MW), adopts the ultra-super critical technology with higher efficiency and lower emissions than conventional power stations to supply electricity to Central China Power Grid by the UHV network. The plant was put into production in 2021.
