With the implementation of the corporate's "Greener and Smarter" strategy, Banpu China stepped into renewable energy industry in China. Since 2016, Banpu has invested in seven solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 173 MW in Shandong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, namely Jinshan (30 MW), Huineng (20 MW) and Hui'en (20 MW) in Weifang City, Shandong Province, Haoyuan (20 MW) and Xingyu (10 MW) in Tai'an City, Shandong Province, Deyuan (50 MW) in Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province and Jixin (23MW) in Jinhu County, Jiangsu Province.

While supplying power to the grid, these photovoltaic projects play an important role in energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection, and meet the requirements of the national sustainable development strategy and energy (energy conservation) industrial policy.

In 2022, Shijiazhuang Chengfeng New Energy Company Limited (SCNE) was established to engage in the development, construction and operation of distributed solar rooftop projects in Zhengding County in response to the government’s whole-county solar rooftop policy.
